What Matters! Happy New Year

January 18, 2018

Happy New Year everyone!

In case you missed it, it’s a New Year, a new beginning, a new chance for a new start. We say so many things and have such great hopes when it comes the beginning of a new year. What are you excited about for this year?

I for one was weighed down last year by a challenge that was so overwhelming that I have actually been carrying it with me for years! But, 2017 was going to be THE YEAR that I accomplished this challenge. No, it wasn’t one of my physical rides, climbs or races. This one was an exam. I had to know so much, learn so many formulas and laws…ugh! I had wanted to pass this one for many years, and felt I was getting to old to do it. I kept pushing it out one more month. I gave myself every excuse I possibly could to not schedule the exam and force myself to just dig in and do it. It loomed over me all year, and weighed me down. But finally, I had to schedule it if I wanted to take it before the end of the year, so I did, for Dec 30th (yes, a Saturday) at 7:45 A.M. in the morning. I had to push everything else aside for many weeks. Friends, family and even clients…I had to. I had to dig very deep. Study; cram it into my brain for hours on end. On that Sat morning, I took that exam and got that gorilla off my back. What a great feeling of accomplishment!!!

Sometimes we put things off because they make us uncomfortable. We resist what we know is best for us because it is hard. We make excuses, reason our way out of decisions, actions, and take the easier way, which doesn’t do us any good, and we know it, but it’s easier to avoid the hard stuff.

Many of us have goals that we want to reach. Now, at the beginning of a new year, it’s a time to reflect on those goals. I want to encourage you to start now without fear. Jump in and let the excitement of reaching it push you onward!!!

Can I help you with your financial goals? Let’s take a look now, at the start of the year. Call me, lets chat. It may be easier than you think. And imagine that exhilarating feeling when you have reached that goal!
